Day 1- I Can Do This Damn It

It’s Sunday morning the day after my meeting with Mr. P. I woke up tired from getting up with the baby but knew I had to get some fruit and veggies in the house and prep for the week since I haven’t shopped for a while.  I made my produce list and sent my husband on his way after spending 5 minutes listening to him how he had to do the shopping since I didn’t know how to pick out good fruit.

I was able to make it through the first day without eating carbs or sugar and for me that was huge.  The evening was the hardest part I would have loved to eat some sugar while watching one of my favorite shows; instead I shoved a handful of almonds in my mouth and brewed some tea.  I’m hoping each day will get a little easier.

Picking Up The Phone The 1st Step

I am on a journey to make peace with food and I hope you will join and support me on the way!

After having my 2nd baby and knowing I am not having anymore kids I knew I needed to do something for me and invest in my health.  I decided to talk to a few friends who had success with a nutritionist/trainer and decided to make the 1st step – pick up the phone.  It was your typical foggy San Francisco summer afternoon and I probably just got done eating a piece of cake (my downfall-all desserts-SUGAR); I thought it was time to call Mr. P.  We talked a little bit about myself and history and I made my 1st appointment Saturday Aug 14th that will be the start of my journey.  I was hesitant on telling my husband since he is always worried about money since I have been a stay at home mom for the past 2 1/2 years but I have been working from home and making money for close to a year now so it was time for ME end of discussion.  To my surprise he supported me but did reply “after all these appointments you won’t have money to buy new clothes I’ll guess you’ll have to go naked.”

I woke up that Saturday feeling scared, nervous, and excited all at the same time. My whole family headed out the door, got to the Peninsula, and I dropped my husband and the kids off at a friend’s car show as I headed to my appointment.  I arrived at Mr. P’s house where he consults and trains and sat down to talk about this journey. We talked for nearly 2 hours, he did most of the talking, and I decided I like his philosophy and training.  I’ve worked with other trainers in the past and like the rest of world we’ve been told so many different things with eating exercise my head could spin-off.  I decided I would forget everything I’ve been told and open up to Mr. P. He likes to give little bits of info at a time so you are not overwhelmed the jest I got was I’m going to have to eliminate sugars and most carbs.  Man this is going to be rough but there is no easy fix unfortunately.  I really want a life long change and I’m sick of this weight roller coaster.  One motivation other than getting fit and healthy for my family is I’m spending money and want this to work.  If my friends could make this work with their busy life of working, traveling, and even eating out I can do it too.

My next appointment with Mr. P is next Saturday Aug 21st.  My goal for the week is to keep a food journal and start eliminating sugars and carbs.  I also have to write for Mr. P how I see myself and how I want to feel and look. Wish me luck!
